When Should a Student Stay Home From School?
It is very important that we prevent the spread of communicable disease. Before returning to school:
• Students should be fever free for 24 hours without use of fever reducing medications.
• Students should be free of continuous coughing.
• Students should remain at home until 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.
• Students should remain home for 24 hours after taking the first dose of antibiotic for an infection.
Medications
All medication and prescriptions must be dropped off by a parent or guardian for your child’s protection. Students are not allowed to carry any medication into school. If you would like your child to be given over-the-counter meds (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc.) you will need to bring the medication in from home marked with your child’s name and complete the medication authorization form. Office hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All medication needs to be picked up on the last day of school by the parent or guardian. We will not send medication home with any student. Students will be allowed up to 12 doses of Over-The-Counter (OTC) per semester. If the student needs more than 12 doses per semester the parent/guardian will be contacted and a presription will be required from your health care provided in order to adminster the medication at school.
